Greens Rebuilding 2001/2002

Monday, April 8, 2002:   NEW GREENS OPEN TOMORROW!!!!!!
Mike Schubert called this morning to announce that the new greens would open for play on Tuesday morning.

Thursday 11/8/01:
New pictures below show how 2+ weeks of 70° weather will help new grass grow.  From a small distance they look like they're ready to play on already.  Of course, they're still thin and need much more time to mature, but boy do they look good!

Thursday 11/1/01:  "The triplets were born today!" according to Schubert.  With the warm weather and ideal conditions Mike said that when they arrived this morning all three greens were covered with new grass.  Obviously it's still young growth but from a distance in the fairway Mike says the greens look like they're ready for play.  After applying fertilizer the greens were recovered and put away to grow some more.

For construction pictures before grass was growing go here.

The picture at left was taken from behind the new #10 green on 9/30/01 during the initial reconstruction of the green.  The construction was finished and the green seeded on 10/19/01.
The picture at left was taken on 11/7/01 and shows the new grass on #10 and gives a better view of the new rear bunker.
This view of the new#10 is from the cart path and shows that while the green still has slope it is not nearly as extreme as before.

The above photo was taken from the cart path on the left side of #1, looking toward #3 tee.  You can see the green now has two distinct tiers, with each tier much flatter than the old green.
#4  Below is a photo of the new #4 from the cart path at the left rear corner looking toward #5.  Once again, you can see that the new green has sloping and distinct "flat" areas, but overall will be much more playable than the old green.
