The opening hole is a straight away par 5 of 550 yards.
After a slightly downhill tee shot, you are left with a second
shot that must clear a small creek that crosses the fairway, the
first of four times you'll cross this creek on the first nine
holes. A short iron third shot to a large two-level green will leave you
with your first opportunity to three-putt. Hit it in the
fairway and this is an easy hole (aren't they all!). Miss
the fairway here and you're probably hitting a lofted club over
the trees.
|
From
the tee shot landing area, your second shot must negotiate the gap
in the tree line, and must clear the creek that crosses the
fairway about 170 yards from the green. A decent shot here
will put you inside 150 yards, possibly much closer. |

From around 100 yards you are pitching to a slightly elevated,
multi-level green. Bunkers guard left, right, and right-rear.
The green has two very distinct levels front and rear, so distance
control is important.

behind the green looking back toward the tee. The green is narrow
at the front and very wide in the rear, but also features two distinct
putting levels.
