Only the second par 4 on the first nine, the eighth hole is a dog leg left.  The entire left side of the hole and behind the green is protected by large trees and a creek.  A large fairway bunker guards the left corner of the dog leg.  While the temptation may be to try and cut the dog leg, the preferred approach shot is from a straightaway tee shot.  Shots coming from the left side usually have to contend with one of the large bunkers that guard the recently reconstructed green.  Another elevation change on the second shot makes the hole play shorter than the yardage indicates.

#8 green is protected by this large bunker on the right, and a similar bunker on the left side.  The back-to-front slope helps hold incoming shots.

From behind the 8th green you can look back up the fairway and see the bunker that guards the left side of the dog leg.
