2018 CHAMPIONSHIP RESULTS
2018 Men’s Golf Association MGA Cup Participation Guidelines
There are 9 MGA tournaments/events scheduled to be played and points awarded to qualify for the MGA Cup. The 9 events are set up as either a major (4) or a minor (5) event. Participants in these events earn points for playing and where they finish in the event. At the conclusion of these 9 events, the top 16 players, by total points earned, qualify to play in the season ending MGA Cup Tournament.
For each major event you participate in, you earn 4 points. In addition, points are earned as follows: 8 points for first, 6 points for second, 4 points for third, and 2 points for fourth. For each minor event you earn 2 points for playing and earn points as follows: 4 points for first, 3 points for second, 2 points for third, and 1 point for fourth.
The top 4 point earners will serve as captains and prior to the event a player draft will be held. The drafting of players is held reversing the drafting order after each round until all players are drafted. The Championship tournament is a two day event, with two 9-hole matches played each day. Day one format is a 9-hole team scramble and a 9-hole team shamble. Day two is a 9-hole 2-man best ball and a 9-hole play your own ball. Points are awarded based on order of finish after each format. The team with the most points at the end of play wins the Cup. In case of a tie, a sudden death playoff team scramble will be played starting on hole number 1.
In order to be eligible to participate in the Cup, a player MUST post a minimum of 10 scores from March 15 through October 4, 2018. We will be happy to post your scores for you if you turn your scorecard in to the Golf Shop.
