Storm Damage 6-19-2009

The pictures below show storm damage that occurred during a brief storm that passed through LVCC about 10:00pm on Friday, June 19, 2009.   The Missouri Golf Association was holding their Junior Match Play Championship at Lake Valley, with the final 36-hole match to be contested on Saturday morning.  These pictures depict some of what the course looked like early Saturday morning.

This tree is(was) behind #3 green.  It missed landing on the green by inches.

This view heading toward #4 tee is pretty much what you saw everywhere on the course.  Limbs, leaves, and often trees.

Here you can see the large oak that guarded the front of #3 green.  The entire top was taken out and the rest of the tree will need to be removed.

The tree on #3 after several hours work on cleaning it up.

Left of the cart path on #8

Alex works on the tree on #3 with the (volunteer) help of
 Jim Besancenez

This tree on the right side of #10 is now gone.

This pine tree in the rough between #6 and #8 was obviously affected by high winds.

Bradford pear behind #16 green.

These two trees were in the cluster at the dogleg on #6.

Limbs down as you approach #3

Another view of the tree on #3

The morning round of the MGA Junior Match Play Championship had to hit over this walnut tree that was blown into the fairway on #2.

Large tree limb down in the swimming pool area.

The tree behind #3 green.  You can see the direction the tree feel.  Just a bit to the left (right from this angle) and it would have landed ON the green.

The cart path on #3.  This is where one of the limbs from the big tree landed.
